Okay, this is going to be a looooong post. As promised I’ll show you our cosplays from saturday and also some of the best cosplays that I’ve seen at AniNite 2013.
So, let’s start with Tom’s and mine costumes: We decided to cosplay Kirito and Asuna from Sword Art Online. We ordered both costumes from RedstarCosplay at etsy. The service and the prices were really good and they finished both costumes order made for our sizes within two weeks and then send them away. Toms costume arrived around two weeks later and it was really perfect. The pants were a little strange, but the shirt and the coat are really awesome. For my costume we also ordered a hard chest plate and the Asuna wig.
Tom ordered our swords at allanimecosplay.com. Because metal weapons are forbidden inside of the convention site, we went with the wooden swords. They arrived quite fast and safe (Toms sword got damaged a little bit, but it wasn’t that bad). We didn’t like how the swords looked thought. Yes, Asunas sword looked exactly like in the picture (normally that’s a good sign), but it didn’t look like anything near the original colors. So we decided to completely paint them over again with acrylic colors and sprayed some glossy finish all over them, until we both were satisfied with how they looked like.
When my costume still hasn’t arrived after two months from ordering and only three weeks away from AniNite, Tom ordered a second Asuna costume for me from cosplayfly, because they were really helpful, fast and use DHL shipping.
In the end both Asuna costumes arrived in time before AniNite. I used most of the costume from RedStar Cosplay, because it looked and fitted better. The hard chestplate looked so much better and the wig was also perfect. In fact I’m thinking about getting Asunas hair color soon. I only took the white skirt cape and the belt from the cosplayfly costume, because they looked more similar to the original.
